Why do you do what you do?

Many years ago someone said to me – “We need someone like you to help us with our business”. From the feedback I was receiving I knew I had many skills that people seemed to want and it was the work I loved doing, so in 1999 I took a leap of faith and established Leadership & Executive Coaching.

 

What makes you different to all the other coaches?

People say they like my coaching style because I keep things simple. I aim to create an atmosphere where people feel safe to share anything without being judged. I look for the gold in people and help them see it for themselves. When you think about the best coach/mentor you have ever had, they are people that you trust, that support you but also give you constructive, useful feedback to help you grow. As Tony Robbins says,”If you stop growing basically you are dying”. If you choose to work with me that is my purpose – to help you overcome the challenges you face and help you grow into your full potential. And if you don’t know what you want we work together to find that out.

How did you get the skills & attitude for this role?

As well as gaining formal qualifications, I have learnt from some of the best, Anthony Robbins, Brian Tracy, Jim Rohn, Scott Peck to name a few, but I also learnt from the school of hard knocks as Sales Director of a direct selling company, which involved just getting out there and doing it. I knew I could be successful and that I could learn from the best in the business. So I made a point of spending as much time as I could with successful people. This is one of the best ways to learn because it happens unconsciously. Eventually my team and I were acknowledged with national awards for:

  • Leadership Development
  • Business Growth
  • Team Development

I continually learn and attend formal coach training every year. The International Coaching Federation has an expectation that accredited coaches complete a certain number of hours of continuous coaching education every year. I also have over 1000 coaching hours experience. To achieve the PCC coach level through ICF one needs to be examined against world standards.

“To Learn” is one of my values and is part of how I personally grow.
