Team Coaching

The Power of Teams

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller

Creating high-performing teams is critical in today’s market place as we are constantly being asked to do more with less.  High-performing teams working in synergy is the key to keeping up with demands from stakeholders, customers and consumers.

For many years, I  facilitated large experiential team-building workshops.  Participants thoroughly enjoyed the experience, learned new things, gained insights, set goals, had fun and bonded with their team mates. The feedback was outstanding.

However, I would often leave the workshops feeling a little apprehensive.  On one hand I was thrilled about the outcome but on the other I was wondering how effective the team would be when back in the normal day-to-day business operations.  Would their influence win out?

In our endeavour to have a more profound effect, we changed our focus to team coaching.

Team coaching is different to team building in that we work with the team as a system within a system. We do not look at the individual, we look at the team as a whole.

It is a valuable intervention for ensuring teams are addressing the needs of key stakeholders, communicating effectively both internally and externally, understanding the need to adapt to the fast changing world, and having a system to learn and develop from past experience.

What team coaching will do

  • Set a clear purpose, mission and goals
  • Improve communication
  • Ensure accountability
  • Resolve conflict
  • Boost morale

What we do

To support the team dynamics we focus on 5 key areas:

  • the intent of why it exists is known to all the individual parts
  • goals and mission are clear
  • roles and expectations are understood and embraced
  • the way we work and communicate together to generate new thoughts and ideas is co-created
  • time to reflect and learn from our past and plan for the future is planned for

Our inspiration for team coaching comes from Peter Hawkins – 5 Cs of High Performing Teams.

Research is showing that team coaching delivers a positive return on investment (ROI).
